Art Shows, Antique Hunting, Farmer's Market ......

Each year, the village of Roxbury "Arts Group" offers a number of art and music activities during the summer months.

Near the end of Summer, the antique show at Cooperstown is usually worth the hour and a half drive.

There are a number of shops and galleries in Margaretville proper. Normally there are between one and three dozen wall art pieces in town at any given time.

The Erpf center in Arkville about 3 miles from downtown Margaretville has a number of collections of art and photographs

The Fenimore House in Cooperstown has one of the best folk art collections in the nation. The Farmer's Museum has a fine collection of early American farm implements and some classic American furnature in its proper settings. In addition, there are a number of shops and small galleries in Cooperstown proper.

Find the farmer's market each weekend, late spring until early fall, at the round barn.

The Bellayre Mountain Music Festival has a wide range of events over the summer. This year's activites include folk music, chamber music and opera. Also at Bellayre, you can participate in swimming, boating and summer fun as Bellayre's Pine Hill Lake is open from May 29 to September 6.

Visit the many antique shops in the area. Or attend a Saturday night auction. Check the Catskill Mountain News time and locations.

The ski area offers cultural events during the the spring, summer and fall. Fall foliage ski lift rides are available.

A scenic train ride can be had on the Red Heifer leaving from the Arkville station.

The Margaretville Hospital has a large flea and antique market for fund raising the first weekend in August.

The town has a Fourth of July celebration with parade, rides and fireworks. Benefit of the Fire Department. Brook's b'q chicken is a must.

The Catskill Center a source of cultural events, environmental information and a variety of programs for all interests.

Visit the small Fairview Library. Summer Saturday mornings you will find a used booksale in the barn in back of the library.
